There's something especially gratifying about a Centenary. Few people achieve such a grand old age let alone organisations.

Hebden Bridge Literary and Scientific Society, therefore, has every justification in celebrating this venerable milestone with pride. Members can congratulate themselves on sustaining the traditions enshrined by their worthy forebears 100 years previously and in the same spirit, look to the future with confidence.

The "Lit and Sci" has been a beacon for excellence for so long that it's easy to take for granted the invaluable role it has played in the town's development. Members have championed noble causes and not been afraid to speak out on controversial issues.

"Milltown Memories" is particularly proud to be associated with the celebrations, having established close links with the society from issue one. Our souvenir booklet, "Hebden Bridge Literary and Scientific Society 1905 - 2005: 100 Years of Achievement and Service to the Community," marks this notable occasion.

Our next issue - Winter 2005/'06 - is on sale in December. You can't afford to miss it!
