June 6 1971 was a red letter day for Todmorden Football Club. Burnley Ex-Clarets stars were invited to Centre Vale to play in a special match celebrating the Todmorden club's 75th anniversary.

Todmorden was captained by Jack Davies - "a model of consistency and the perfect example on the field" and goalie Terry Mayers, with the club since 1960, chalked up his 250th appearance. The nucleus of the team stemmed from the highly successful Juniors XI launched in 1967.
